Coronation Street confirms Gary’s secret proposal to Maria – after she cheats on him with Ali

CORONATION Street has confirmed Gary Windass will secretly plan to propose to Maria Connor – after she has cheated on him with Ali Neeson.

Spoilers on the official website revealed Weatherfield’s resident hardman – played by Mikey North – will be sneaking around behind Maria’s back as he prepares the perfect proposal in this week’s episodes.

However, Maria (Samia Longchambon) becomes suspicious, believing Gary has returned to his no-good ways.

Distressed, she goes to her ex-boyfriend Ali (James Burrows) for comfort, but gets way more than some kind words.

The pair – who have been resisting their chemistry for weeks – finally snap and end up kissing at the barber shop.

The intimate moment turns sourer when she finds out Gary was just trying to organise the perfect proposal and her distrust was unwarranted.

Later on, Gary and Maria announce the engagement to their friends and neighbours at the pub.

Ali and Gary put aside their differences by shaking hands – but how long will this last?

Mikey North recently revealed Gary could snap and murder for a third time when he finds out about their intimate moment.

Mikey said: “I do think that Gary is really determined to make this his fresh start, put the past behind him and move on with Maria.

“I think Gary has seen the error of his ways, but if he were to find out about Maria and Ali, I think that could send him off the rails again.

“There’s only one way that Gary reacts and that’s with his fists. Should he find out about it, Gary and Ali will definitely come to blows”

Gary caused the death of Rana Habeeb in the factory collapse before beating loan shark Rick Neelan to death months later.

For his part, Ali is also a murderer, having killed gangster Ronan Truman to save his family from the drug dealer’s revenge.

But could either of them kill again?
