Report: Spurs knocked back with late loan approach for striker
Sky Sports reports that Tottenham have been knocked back with a late move for former Watford striker Odion Ighalo.
The 30-year-old striker, who currently plays for Chinese club Shanghai Greenland Shenhua, is reportedly the subject of late interest from several clubs including Spurs.
However, the report claims that Shanghai Greenland Shenhua knocked back Tottenham’s offer to take the Nigerian international on a loan deal until the end of the season.
The report asserts that the striker, who has scored ten goals in seventeen league appearances this season (transfermarkt), could still leave China before the transfer deadline this evening, but it is suggested that he will not be joining Jose Mourinho at Spurs.
However, the report adds that the Lilywhites are still continuing to explore other striker options in the final few hours of the transfer window as they seek to bring in a centre forward in order to cope with the loss of the injured Harry Kane.
Daily Star journalist Paul Brown also reports that Spurs held talks with Ighalo but that the deal is unlikely to go through.
