Over 100 retired civil servants have written an open letter to the government asserting the "constitutional and moral untenability" of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and urging it to repeal the legislation. The letter calls for the repeal of all sections of the Citizenship Act 1955 that pertain to the issue of national identity cards.
