DEAR DEIDRE:WHEN I got with my boyfriend a year ago, everything was brilliant to start with . . . until he met my dad.
They are both Spurs fans and now all they talk about is football – recent games they played, games coming up, their position in the league, Jose Mourinho, Harry Kane’s injury . . . it drives me crazy.
I am 19 and my boyfriend is 22.
At first I was pleased he got on so well with my dad but now I feel squeezed out.
He would rather sit and talk to my dad in the kitchen than spend time in my room with me.

DEIDRE SAYS: Talk to them both separately.
Tell your dad he should draw a line after chatting for half an hour.
Tell your boyfriend you are glad he gets on well with your dad but if he would rather talk about football than spend time with you, it suggests he is not ready to have a relationship.
That said, you could try learning more and joining in.
You might even enjoy it.
