Ever since Selina Kyle put Bruce Wayne and Gotham City behind her, and took some time to sort out her life in Villa Hermosa, she has been at war with Raina Creel. The socialite/billionaire/politician/absolute monster has escalated their rivalry ever since. But things have taken a horrifying turn in Catwoman #19. Selina won't just be taking on the usual Creel muscle... but an undead horde coming after those closest to her, as well.
The series has been following a somewhat segmented, non-linear timeline ever since Lex Luthor's Villain of the Year offer came to Selina, giving her the chance to give up playing the hero, and become a more powerful villain than ever before. Obviously Catwoman refused, and relied on her own abilities to disrupt Raina Creel's hunt for a Lazarus Pit. Unfortunately Selina arrived too late to stop Raina's plan, and instead witnessed as he began to spawn undead soldiers from the magical pool of resurrection. And now that strange experiment with life and death is coming for Selina's right-hand man... and her sister, too.
The showdown between Selina and Raina Creel has been personal for some time, but now the stakes are being raised. The previous issue concluded with Carlos and Maggie looking on as shambling shadows began surrounding the pawn shop where they have set up headquarters. In our exclusive preview of Catwoman #19, Selina is on the way. But with a shortage of rooftops, and Carlos taking zombie-fighting into his own hands, will she arrive in time? The preview shows that the stakes are rising to a crescendo along with this story, but the issue will also be giving Selina her own chapter in DC's larger Year of The Villain. Fans are safe to assume that Lex Luthor's offer to embrace her villainy stands a poorer chance with Selina than most of the other villains he'll be meeting.
