Heung Min Son makes vow to Tottenham fans after return from suspension

Tottenham Hotspur forward, Heung Min Son, made his return to the starting line up at the weekend as Spurs took on Middlesbrough in the FA Cup third round.

Son had been suspended for three domestic matches after picking up a straight red card for violent conduct against Chelsea before Christmas.

The South Korean was seen to have kicked out at Antonio Rudiger during that match at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which was spotted by VAR and the red card was shown.

This was Son’s third red card of 2019 alone, although his previous one against Everton was rescinded after the match.

Spurs have never needed Son more than now, as Harry Kane picked up a nasty hamstring injury against Southampton last week. Son has always been known to step up with goals during Kane’s injury spells.

The forward has now vowed that he will learn something from his recent red cards (Sky Sports): “It has already passed, I don’t want to speak or think about it,” he said. “I just want to focus on what is coming, that is the most important thing.

“I am trying to learn something about this situation, three red cards is something I don’t want.

“It is not something I expected, but three red cards, it was painful. I will try and learn something from these situations.

“I was frustrated but I came back with happiness – but it was not the result we wanted. I am glad to be back, it was very painful to watch the team playing home and away on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.”
