Port Vale’s Tom Pope faces significant ban for THIRD social media charge after alleged anti-semitic Rothschilds tweet
PORT Vale striker Tom Pope is set for a significant ban after it emerged he faces a THIRD FA charge for social media use.
Pope will be asked to explain the weekend tweets in which he doubled down on a well-known anti-Semitic trope accusing the Jewish Rothschild family of controlling the world’s banking network.
FA disciplinary beaks are ready to throw the book at the 34-year-old who is set to be charged with an “aggravated breach” of Rule E3 (2) by his Twitter comments.
Pope’s insistence that the Rothschilds “own every bank on the planet” appears a clear breach of the regulations that demand an extra sanction for any comments that “included a reference, whether expressed or implied, to race and/or colour and/or ethnic origin”.
And while the starting point for punishment against Pope would be a one-match ban it seems likely he will be hit far harder.
SOCIAL MEDIA WARNINGS
In November, Pope was fined £2,600 and banned for one game for comments he made on social media.
And that was his second such charge, with the striker having been previously warned over social media use – and deleting his account at the time.
Now a third charge, made more serious by the language and sentiments expressed by Pope, seems inevitable with a ban of more than four games likely if he is found guilty.
Pope, who had scored Vale’s goal in their 4-1 FA Cup defeat at Manchester City on Saturday, logged on to his social media account in the early hours of Sunday morning.

On Saturday, the striker, 34, backed up his earlier boast that he could score 40 goals a season if he played against John Stones by adding “it’s more like 50”.
Pope then replied to a follower asking him to “predict the World War III result”,
He replied: “We invade Iran then Cuba then North Korea then the Rothschilds are crowned champions of every bank on the planet.”
