Hamilton Park Chairman, Sir Ian Good, was all smiles in the winners’ enclosure at Musselburgh on Monday after the success of El Picador.
Formerly trained by Sir Michael Stoute, the 7-1 chance is now with Keith Dalgleish and he fairly skipped his way to a comfortable victory under Sean Quinlan in the juvenile hurdle.
Sir Ian owns the three-year-old in partnership with his daughter Catriona and it looks as if they will have plenty of fun in the future over jumps and on the Flat with their latest purchase.
Afterwards Sir Ian was telling me he had enjoyed quite a lot of success over the years, particularly with horses carrying his familiar pink and black colours such as Penny A Day who was trained by the legendary late Mary Reveley.
Keith’s year just gets better and better and he has once again saddled well over 100 winners, combined on the Flat and jumps in 2019.
The Carluke trainer has also amassed around £1.2 million in prize money which is a fabulous achievement and he keeps raising the bar higher and higher.
Congratulations must go to Musselburgh for being voted Small Racecourse Of The Year by The Racehorse Owners’ Association (ROA) earlier this week.
Many of the management team at the East Lothian venue were on hand to receive the ROA Gold Standard prize at the 38th year of a ceremony which was a glittering affair staged in the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.
