Report: Rumoured transfer target rules out Tottenham move
Former Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini ruled out a possible move to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Belgian international left Old Trafford at the beginning of February to join Chinese Super League club Shandong Luneng after five-and-a-half years at the former Premier League champions.
Fellaini was an important figure during Jose Mourinho’s reign and reports had claimed that the Portuguese had made the signing of the 31-year-old his ‘priority objective’ at Spurs (La Derniere Heure).
In an interview with Eleven Sports, Fellaini opened up on his special relationship with Mourinho but insisted that he is happy playing his football in China.
Fellaini, who has a contract with Shandong until December 2021 with an option of an additional year, has scored 12 goals in 32 games since making the switch to Asia (transfermarkt).
Mourinho has shown preference of using Eric Dier in his starting eleven since taking over, however the England international has failed to rekindle the form he showed earlier in his career at the North London side.
Fellaini told Eleven Sports: ‘Jose is special for me. We text each other, we call each other from time to time.
‘He’s taken over at Spurs and he’s doing well. I wish him all the best. But I am good where I am now.’
