CHRIS Evans has revealed that his seven-year-old son Eli underwent a miracle treatment to help him learn how to read and write.
The 53-year-old presenter and his wife Natasha Shishmanian took the little boy to The Key Clinic last year after researching his learning difficulties.
Speaking on this morning’s Chris Evans Virgin Radio Breakfast Show with Sky, the proud dad gushed about how Eli is now able to do “joint-up writing” – and even “reads books for fun”.
He told listeners: “Our little boy, Eli, loves school, he loves life. At the start of this year, his new year at school, he couldn’t really read and he couldn’t really write.
“He could read a little bit, but not much, but he’s creative, such a genius. He’s a shining star in our world. So was he dyslexic? Not very good at maths.
“Tash started looking around and she came across this place called The Key Clinic.
“The Key Clinic focus on a link between all these learning issues and potential issues of communication or spatial awareness, and they’re all linked to something called retained reflexes.”
Chris continued: “Retained reflexes means that we’re all born with these reflexes that are designed to keep us alive in the first few months, and the first year, maybe second year of our lives. And there are about 19 of them.
“They are sort of superpowers in our first years of our lives but when we no longer need them, they’re supposed to leave us – and if they don’t leave us, they can cause massive issues.”
Praising the “drug-free movement method”, Chris explained that the clinic improves both learning and behavioural problems with 10-minute daily exercises that “mature” the nervous system.
“And of course, the longer these reflexes remain locked, the more hard-wired our neuroplasticity becomes and the more it is accepted as a normal state when it really, really isn’t. And this is revolutionary.”
Chris and Tash, 39, have been left amazed by Eli’s improvement after a year of the treatment, with the star admitting that he’d been considering talking publicly about it for a while.
He shared: “In a year of doing this, Eli has gone from not being able to read to four stages above his expected reading level for his age. He can also do joint-up writing.
“He reads books now for fun. His whole personality has changed; he’s become less anxious and it’s all because of this.
“You can’t do them haphazardly because you have to change this wiring of your brain and your brain has to it has to get fed up with the onslaught that you’re confronting with every day.
“Eli is not sorted, but he’s getting sorted. It’s like a miracle. It’s like a blooming miracle. It’s unbelievable.”
After Eli’s diagnosis, Chris also realised that his 11-year-old son Noah also has retained reflexes – and even he does as an adult, to an extent.
Chris and Tash are also mum and dad to 14-month-old twins Walt and Boo, with Chris sharing 33-year-old daughter Jade with ex-wife Alison Ward.
