Former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with the likes of Bayern Munich (Sky Sports) and Arsenal (Metro) since being sacked by the North London club two weeks ago (The Telegraph).
However, it turns out that the Argentine might not be quite the free agent he was thought to be.
We relayed a report from the Daily Express a couple of days ago which revealed that there was a clause in Pochettino’s contract whereby he would have to return his £12.5million pay-off to Tottenham should he take another Premier League job before the end of the season.
A report in The Telegraph has gone a step further by suggesting that Pochettino would not have to pay the £12.5million fee back, but instead he would have to give up the money he was still due along with the interested club, whether English or overseas would need to sit down and negotiate with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy if they wished to make him their manager.
The report claims that due to a clause in the 47-year-old’s contract, any club wishing to hire him before the end of the current campaign would have to compensate Tottenham.

It does look like Daniel Levy has tried his best to ensure Pochettino does not join any of Tottenham’s rivals this season. However, if a club like Bayern Munich really wanted the Argentine, one would think paying Spurs the compensation wouldn’t be too much of a problem for them.
