Arsenal could consider using Hector Bellerin as bait as part of their efforts to sign Merih Demiral from Juventus, according to reports.
The Gunners have had the joint worst defensive record of all the teams in the top half of the Premier League table so far, one of the contributing factors in Unai Emery’s dismissal as manager.
According to Calciomercato.it, they are looking towards Serie A to solve their defensive crisis, despite having added David Luiz to their squad this summer.
Arsenal are said to be interested in Juventus defender Merih Demiral, who has been struggling for gametime following his own summer move to Turin. The Turkish international has started just once in Serie A this season.
However, he remains a valuable asset for Juventus, meaning that Arsenal may need to include players in any potential offer – with right-back Bellerin suggested by Calciomercato as a makeweight due to his similar valuation.
The reigning Serie A champions hold Bellerin in high regard, meaning they may be tempted to part ways with their summer investment.
As for Demiral, Manchester United are also interested, perhaps laying the groundworks for the possible return of Paul Pogba to Juventus – while AC Milan would pose a threat to any Premier League bid.
