A Republican hoping to unseat Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) has reportedly been banned from Twitter after her account shared posts that mentioned hanging the lawmaker.
The Washington Times reports that Danielle Stella’s campaign account, @2020MNCongress, was banned after it posted at least twice about hanging Omar.
Stella is one of several people vying for the Republican party’s nomination to run against Omar in her next election.
The tweets appeared to refer to unfounded allegations that Omar passed information to the Iranian government, according to the Hill. Omar has denied the allegations.
“If it is proven @IlhanMN passed sensitive info to Iran, she should be tried for #treason and hanged,” one of the tweets said, according to the Washington Times.
Omar appeared to react to the allegations in a tweet earlier this week.
“Since the day I won my first primary election against a 44yr incumbent in 2016, misinformation and conspiracy theories have become part of my daily existence,” Omar tweeted on Tuesday. “The stories keep getting outlandishly absurd, and this latest one is no exception!”

The @2020MNCongress account was banned for repeatedly violating the social media company’s rules, a Twitter spokesperson told the news outlet.
