MVP destroys Giovanni Melillo with first round KO at Bellator London and instantly calls out Douglas Lima for a rematch
MICHAEL “VENOM” PAGE challenged Douglas Lima to a rematch after recording another stunning first round knockout.
The 32-year-old needed just seconds to finish Giovanni Melillo at London Bellator as he added another devastating finish to his highlight reel.
MVP breezed past Richard Kiely with a flying knee finish last time out in Dublin two months ago.
And his return to the cage against the Italian welterweight was just as successful in front of his home town.
Melillo took the fight with just eight days’ notice after original opponent Derek Anderson was forced out through injury.
But Page was a class above from the opening bell, dropping his foe with a huge right over the top to end the clash in the first in brutal fashion.
Now he wants a high-profile rematch with Lima, the only man to ever defeat him after he was KOed in the second back at Bellator 221 in Illinois in May.
He said: “London, I love you guys. In the crowd, I see family, friends, my supporters. I’m the one and only MVP it doesn’t matter who steps in the cage. Boom!”
Page continued: “Who wants to see me fight Douglas Lima again? He’s got the belt, I got a lot of respect for him, but I want to take something back that he stole from me.”
In the co-main event, Fabian Edwards controversially secured a split decision over bitter rival Mike Shipman.

And after claiming the hotly-disputed win, he almost caused a riot as he scaled the cage to celebrate – much to the annoyance of the nearby London Shooters gym members.
His record now stands at 9-0.
And Soren Bak gained a win on his Bellator debut with an impressive display over London’s Terry Brazier.
He extended his record to 14-1 after putting on a grappling masterclass, sealing a clean sweep on the judges’ scorecards.
