PG&E says its 'all clear' to start inspections, restoration in counties affected by power shutoffs
PG&E Corp. announced Thursday that a weather "all clear" was issued for all the counties impacted by safety related power shutoffs, as wind conditions improved overnight. The San Francisco-based utility said that means it is now safe for inspections and restoration work to begin. "PG&E expects all customers to be restored by tonight or sooner, pending damages found on the system," the company said in a statement. "Approximately 50,000 customers were originally impacted by the November 20 [Public Safety Power Shutoff] event." On Wednesday, the company said it would begin shutting off power to about 150,000 customers in 18 counties in portions of the Sierra Foothill, the North Bay and the North Valley to reduce fire risk. The stock, which rose 0.7% in midday trading, has tumbled 41% over the past three months, while the S&P 500 has gained 6.1%.
