Eriksen opens up on recent form and whether his contract situation is affecting his season

Tottenham Hotspur playmaker, Christian Eriksen, has opened up on his 2019/20 form this week, while stating that his current contract situation is not affecting his game time.

He also says that the club still have complete confidence in him, despite the fact that his contract runs out at the end of the season.

Eriksen can talk to non-English clubs about a pre-contract agreement as soon as January hits, which could see him leave North London on a free in the summer.

The Great Dane has managed just one assist in 14 games for Spurs this season, as well as scoring two goals for the club (Transfer Markt).

Eriksen was left on the bench in the recent home match against Sheffield United in the Premier League, before joining up with the Denmark national team.

The likes of Giovani Lo Celso and Dele Alli were given the nod in the creative positions over Eriksen at the weekend.

On his form and contract situation, Eriksen said (BT): “I feel 100 per cent that Tottenham has complete confidence in me. There is not that big a difference, except that I play a little less this year.

“I don’t feel there is a connection between my contract situation and the fact that I haven’t played as many matches.

“I might take a little more chance than certain other positions on the pitch,’ he added. ‘Of course, there are mistakes, and the decisions taken must also be carried out correctly. There may have been a little bit missing.

“I’ve been in the right situations. I just haven’t taken the right decisions. It’s a bit about the sharpness that is missing. This is something I have to work on myself.”
