Dana White goes off on Oscar De La Hoya once again
Don’t expect Dana White to work with Oscar De La Hoya anytime soon.
The UFC boss re-ignited his animus for the Golden Boy on Saturday night during a post-fight press conference at Madison Square Garden for UFC 244, which saw Jorge Masvidal earn a fourth-round technical decision over Nick Diaz.
The Canelo Alvarez-Sergey Kovalev boxing match in Las Vegas was delayed because DAZN, which streamed the fight, decided to wait until after the Masvidal-Diaz was completed to start their own main event in order to maximize viewership.
DAZN showed the UFC fight on the big screens at the MGM Grand after getting permission from ESPN, which streamed the UFC event.
When a reporter attributed this decision to De La Hoya, a promoter who works with DAZN, White snapped back.
“He didn’t do any of that,” White said. “You think that idiot did any of that? It was much smarter people that surround him that do that stuff. It wasn’t that moron. He’s an asshole. I mean how much more can I prove myself that this guy is a complete f—-up.”
White continued.
“I used to help this guy. I used to go out on social media and say, ‘Hey the fight’s tonight.’ Then we do the Mayweather-McGregor fight, and he tells people not to watch. Who does that? ‘Don’t watch, this is a disgrace to boxing.’ But then says he wants to fight McGregor after.
“I mean I just go on for days about this guy. He’s a bad guy. He’s a snake, he’s a snake, a liar, he’s just an all around bad guy. And he’s really —-ing weird too, just to top it all off.”
