I don’t know whether to get a gastric band fitted… I want to be slim but I am scared

DEAR DEIDRE: SHOULD I have a gastric band fitted? I am 57 and need to lose 9st. I want to be slim and healthy.

I feel at a crossroads. Half of me is jumping at the chance to have the op, as I’ve waited three years. But the other half is scared and full of doubts.

It is a huge step, but if I turn down the chance I might regret not having it done.
