The Walking Dead’s Whisperers to face terrifying new threat as masked walkers cause major confusion
THE Whisperers are about to have their infamous masks used against them in the most terrifying way.
The villainous group, headed up by Alpha, are known for skinning walkers and wearing their skin to blend in with roaming herds.
On top of providing stealth, the disguises also have military advantages, as zombies can be led en masse to rival camps to lay siege to their defences.
This very threat has kept the Alexandrians from waging an assault on The Whisperers, as they’re all too aware that a horde of undead could make them homeless in a hurry.
However, things are set to backfire following a botched attack on Carol.
Season 10, episode 3 focused on Carol’s declining mental health as she battled exhaustion and substance abuse.
Increasingly violent visions began to plague her mind, leading Daryl, among others, to doubt her.
At one point Carol found herself hanging upside down at the mercy as what appeared to be a Whisperer-lead group of walkers, as she fell prey to a trap.
After firing off a string of shots she fell to the ground and took care of the mob, before being found by Daryl and rushed home.
Carol’s testimony was taken with a pinch of salt as many believed her account of things was influenced by pills.
However, a shot at the end of the episode proved that Carol had indeed gunned down at least one Whisperer in the crowd, as they awoke as a walker.

Aside from proving that Carol was right all along, the prospect of a Whisperer returning from the dead is uniquely dangerous.
The Whisperers move and grunt just like the undead, having finely honed their assimilation.
That means that if a Whisperer were to rise again in their mask and make their way home, fellow Whisperers would be unable to recognise they had turned – until the point of attack.
Something tells us that if dead Whisperers infiltrate their camp, Alpha will be stepping up her assault on the allied communities.
