Darren Bent believes unused Spurs player could add ‘another dimension’
Tottenham Hotspur boss, Mauricio Pochettino, has been struggling to get any kind of consistent form out of his team so far this season.
The recent 1-1 draw at home against Watford was by no means an anomaly for Spurs this season, as they have recorded just three wins in 12 games in the 2019/20 campaign.
This has included defeats to Newcastle, Brighton, Leicester, League Two side Colchester United, and a 7-2 battering at the hands of Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
One problem area for Pochettino this season has undoubtedly been the full-back positions, with the likes of Serge Aurier and Danny Rose causing issues over the last few matches.
Rose failed to go with his runner in Watford’s opener this weekend, while Aurier had a horror show against Bayern and was sent off against Southampton.
Ex-Tottenham man, Darren Bent, has now claimed that Spurs new boy, Ryan Sessegnon, could add another dimension to the team once he finally makes his debut.
Bent said (Football Insider): “Sessegnon can give another dimension as he can play left-back and if Spurs switch to a back-three, he can play as a left-wing back.
“He can help bring something at left-back and he can play left-wing so he can help them down that whole left side, so he can give them another dimension.
“Obviously it’s going to take him some time to learn how they play and it may be a little bit tough for him as when you’re a young player and you’ve gone to a new team, and that team isn’t playing that well, it won’t do you any favours.
“Especially when you’re coming back off an injury so hopefully they bed him in slowly, but I’m sure it won’t be too long before he’s up to speed.”
Spurs Web Opinion:
I hope that Sessegnon can come into the side and have a big impact. Spurs just need some pace and youth in the team at the moment; players who are going to come in and show drive and passion. Sessegnon could be at the forefront of that.
