Despite trailing by a 1-0 margin throughout much of the evening, the men's soccer program at Shawnee State University kept up the pressure on Thomas More and eventually broke through as the Bears, who posted a significant 21-7 edge in shots on goal, obtained the equalizer from Mitchell Patchett in the 81st minute to force a 1-1 tie in a Mid-South Conference matchup that was held in Crestview Hills, Ky.
Shawnee State, who also edged Thomas More in shots on goal (8-4) and committed less fouls than the Saints (12-5), had strong offensive opportunities throughout, especially in the first half where the Bears outshot the Saints by a 6-1 margin in the opening half of competition.
