‘Extraordinary’: Gary Lineker salutes Liverpool FC star during 1-1 draw with Man United

Gary Lineker took to social media to praise Trent Alexander-Arnold for his performance in Liverpool FC’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Liverpool FC headed into the game looking to preserve their 100 per cent start to the new campaign as they looked to maintain their eight-point lead at the top of the table.

However, it was Manchester United who started the brighter at Old Trafford and Marcus Rashford fired the home side into the lead in the 36th minute with a cool finish.

Sadio Mane thought he had equalised for the Reds just before half-time but the goal was ruled out by VAR as the Senegal international was adjudged to have handled the ball in the build-up.

Alexander-Arnold continued his fine form for Liverpool FC at right-back and England legend Lineker was clearly impressed by his display.

Lineker wrote on Twitter during the second half: “The passing range of @trentaa98 is extraordinary.”

Lineker earlier had voiced his opinion that the VAR decision to let Manchester United’s opener stand despite a possible foul on Divock Origi in the build-up was the correct one.

He wrote on Twitter: “Deserved lead for @ManUtd. As for VAR: disallowing goals for that nothing challenge would really destroy the game. Got to be for the howlers only.”

Next up for Liverpool FC is a trip to Genk in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The draw left Liverpool FC six points clear of Manchester City after nine games.

Liverpool FC will attempt to get back to winning ways when they host Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon next weekend.
