ADAM LALLANA’S late equaliser at Old Trafford means no side have dropped more points from winning positions in the Premier League than Manchester United.
The Red Devils looked on course to claim all three points at the Theatre of Dreams after Marcus Rashford netted the opener in the 36th minute.
But Lallana’s 85th minute strike ensured that Jurgen Klopp’s side remain unbeaten in the top-flight so far, while also extending their lead over Manchester City at the top to six points.
The draw for United means they have leapfrogged Everton into 13th spot.
In stats obtained by Opta, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s side have dropped eight points from winning position this season.
Along with Aston Villa, no clubs have squandered more points.
Should United have won all the games they was in front in, they would be sitting in third place – one point behind Manchester City.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Solskjaer admitted he is frustrated his side couldn’t hold out for the victory, but insisted the performance is a step in the right direction.
He said: “It was a great response from the boys. We have a team that works for each other and maybe this will turn their season.
“They are disappointed because they feel we should have won. Our fans showed they can see what’s happening and we will get there.”
Before adding: “It’s important to get results. That’s the only way to grow confidence. A win would have been great but a draw is a step in the right direction.

“You can’t look too far in the future. We need to win more games and today was a lost opportunity. We move on to the next one.
“A win in Partizan would be a massive step towards qualifying in the Europa League, then we have difficult league games against Norwich and Bournemouth. But we’re working hard on their mindsets.
“As a manager you want results now – you can’t lose four, five or six games on the bounce. We’re looking to win games as soon as possible. Today was a step in the right direction but just not enough.”
