Lee Bullock has nothing but praise for the fantastic support in the Emirates FA Cup tie with Stourbridge
Saturday’s crowd of 1,171 was a season high for Whitby Town, topping the previous record of 1,038 against Scarborough Athletic.
The Blues’ management had called out for the town to get behind their football team and they certainly didn’t disappoint against Stourbridge in the Emirates FA Cup.
The game finished 1-1 with the Seasiders having to come from behind to level matters thanks to a Matthew Tymon header.
Even at 1-0 down the supporters were in fine voice much to the delight of all officials at the club.
Assistant Manager, Lee Bullock said the following about the bumper crowd at the Towbar Express Stadium at the Turnbull Ground.
“That’s the busiest and best I’ve known the support since I’ve been at the club. It looked brilliant and the support began at 2:45pm which was excellent.
“The atmosphere created by the lads in the Shed was unbelievable and they stuck with the lads in the first half as they had a difficult first half.
“The second half was a lot better and they got that goal to celebrate which was brilliant and it was a shame that we couldn’t get the win as it would be unreal to see the celebrations. Hopefully it can be done on Monday night.
“When the crowd was announced myself and Chris looked at each other and said wow, even though the game was still in progress.
“It just shows what we can do and what can happen if we can continue this spell of positivity. It’s brilliant!
“We’re not expecting nearly 1,200 every week but even the 500 from the last league game was excellent.
“The place looks brilliant when there’s a good crowd and if people keep coming back and supporting us it really helps.
“It looks so good for people at the club and it’s great for your club.”
