Tottenham in pole position to sign Real Madrid ace in January – report

Tottenham are interested in signing Real Madrid attacking midfielder Isco in January, according to reports in the Spanish capital.

The 27-year-old Spanish international, who has been linked with a move to Spurs in the past, has made just three appearances for Madrid this season and has only recently recovered from a muscle injury that saw him miss the whole of September.

Isco made just 11 starts in La Liga last term and is clearly seen as a player surpass to requirements by boss Zinedine Zidane, which could open the door for Mauricio Pochettino and Spurs.

And unlike previously, the advantage Tottenham have a major advantage in his possible transfer saga – Christian Eriksen. The Dane, who has been heavily linked with a move to the Bernabeu, is out of contract next summer, meaning Spurs would have to sell him in the January window or risk him leaving on a free at the end of the season.

Spanish newspaper Marca have put a £69million price tag on the shoulders of Isco, meaning if the two club’s were sort a swap deal, the Premier League outfit would have to pay a transfer fee plus the services of Eriksen, who has previously hinted at his desire to play for the Spanish giants.
