Manchester United are in ‘concrete negotiations’ with a potential Ole Gunnar Solskjaer successor while Manchester City have their eye on a Serie A star to replace Sergio Aguero – all in Wednesday’s European papers.
Manchester United are in ‘concrete negotiations’ with Massimiliano Allegri about the Italian taking over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford, according to reports.
Solskjaer returns to the dugout following the international break facing pressure to get a result against Liverpool on Sunday, with his side 12th in the Premier League after eight games so far.
United have been heavily linked with former Juventus head coach Allegri amid speculation that Solskjaer is close to departing and Tuttosport report that the Red Devils are deep in discussions with the Italian.
The newspaper also claims to reveal details of Allegri’s potential salary, saying that he will earn more than the €7.5m he was earning per year in Turin.
The source adds that Allegri wants a decision to be made within two weeks at the latest, otherwise it is claimed he fears he would not have enough time to turn United‘s form around.
If that deadline cannot be met, however, Tuttosport says that Allegri would want put a potential move to the Premier League on hold until the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Allegri was interviewed about the speculation by Polish newspaper Przegląd Sportowy while attending the AEFCA’s [Alliance of European Football Coaches Association] 2019 Symposium in Warsaw.
He joked: “I speak English too poorly for now, but I am learning.”
