Kind sanitation worker always helps elderly woman with dementia up steep driveway
A kindly sanitation worker has been praised for patiently helping an elderly woman with dementia who lives on his route up her steep driveway.
Billy Shelby was caught on surveillance camera taking 88 year-old Opa Zucca by the arm while carrying her trash can up her driveway on Monday.
He saw the elderly lady trip and hit her head while trying to pick up her trash can in January, and has kept a close watch on her ever since.
Billy can be heard telling Opal, who lives in Independence, Missouri: ‘You’re looking good, I like that hair.
‘You got it down. I like to work on mines.’
And the sanitation worker can also be heard espousing the benefits of exercise, telling Opal: ‘A little walking ain’t never hurt nobody.’
Billy’s kindness was spotted by Opal’s daughter Colette Kingston after she checked the Ring camera she installed to keep tabs on Opal.

‘It’s just so sweet that somebody that doesn’t have any gain in this would be just extra nice to her.
‘It just reminds you that there are still a whole lot of good people out there.’
Colette now wants to thank Billy for his kindness, and has asked his employer Waste Management to enquire whether he’d like tickets to a sporting game.
And Opal herself also heaped praise on Billy, saying: ‘He’s just a very wonderful person, and I really appreciate.’
