CAROLINE Flack has bagged another TV gig – and it looks to be seriously divisive.
The Love Island presenter will be the face of new Channel 4 show The Surjury, which will see contestants attempt to bag plastic surgery they couldn’t normally afford for free.
The catch is, they have to convince a jury to sign off on their dream body with a majority vote of at least 75 per cent.
If they manage to win the panel of strangers over, the show signs off on the procedures and documents the transformation.
The description from Channel 4 reads: “From bum-lifts to nose jobs, sculpted abs to breast enlargements, The Surjury allows people to explore their choices more thoroughly.”
Ross McCarthy, executive producer for show creators Gobstopper Television, added: “This is a totally new way of doing peer-to- peer advice.
“Our pitchers will either get the surgery they’ve always wanted, or a massive boost in confidence when the public rules they don’t need work at all!”
Flackers took to Instagram to announce the news to her 2.3million followers.
“Over the mooooooon to be hosting my first Channel 4 show The Surjury,” she wrote.
However, suffice to say many of the beauty’s fans didn’t share the same sense of optimism and accused the show of glorifying plastic surgery.
“I’m sorry but I just can’t get behind any show that treats plastic surgery like some prize to be won,” one concerned user wrote.
“Why should some group of strangers be the ones to decide if someone ‘needs’ to get work done?! Preposterous,” a second added.”
Meanwhile a third chimed in: “Can’t believe this is what the world has come to – give the contestants some therapy instead!”
Caroline opted not to reply to the critics in her comments section.
However, a Channel 4 rep responded: “Rather than wag a disapproving finger, this new series looks at who wants it, and why – and allows those who make a strong enough case to their peers, to undergo the procedure of their choice.”
“The show will neither glamorise nor condemn their choices: the aim is instead to interrogate the realities.
“All contributors featured in the series have actively been seeking surgery of their own accord.”
Caroline previously compared plastic surgery to the likes of maintaining once’s teeth or hair.
“I don’t have any judgements. You get your hair cut or whiten your teeth, so what’s the problem if it makes you feel confident?”she said to Celebs Now.
The Surjury will air on Channel 4 in 2020.
