PHILLIP Schofield was left stunned as This Morning paid a surprise visit to his first childhood home earlier today.
Dr. Ranj Singh was in Oldham to visit a primary school for a segment on the ITV show, only for producers to realise that Phil’s first ever house was just across the road.
Later in the programme, Phil and Holly Willoughby cut back to the Oldham crew, with the 57-year-old TV presenter gobsmacked when he saw that Dr. Ranj was now outside of the building.
His jaw further dropped when the star revealed that the home’s current owner was available for a live chat, with Robert going on to tell Phil that he’d bought the house from his parents for £1,600 over 50 years ago.
Phil told viewers: “We realised that the school was across the road from where my mum and dad once lived, the house that I was brought back into when I was born.
“So we sent Dr. Ranj to go and find it; 264 Heron Street – have you found it, Ranj?”
Phil gasped when he saw that Ranj had, and was visibly in shock as Robert began his interview.
The current owner told the star: “I think you were about two when you left here, about 55 and 56 years ago.”
He went on to confirm that he has had it since then, paying just £1,600 for the property at the time.
Phil continued: “You bought the house off my mum and dad, that’s incredible.
“That has been the most amazing trip down memory lane.”
Holly giggled that a blue plaque should be installed to say that he once lived there, with Ranj admitting that he had thought the same thing.
Unsurprisingly, Phil jumped on the phone to his mother as soon as he wasn’t on screen, later telling viewers: “I phoned my mother and she is so gobsmacked.
“She remembered everything; the price, name… She thinks he owned a shoe shop.
“Her mind is utterly blown.”
