FRENCH European Affairs Minister Amélie de Montchalin warned the bloc was facing a “major institutional crisis” after France’s choice to be the head of EU industrial policy was overwhelmingly rejected by MEPs. She told France Inter radio: “It is first of all a major institutional crisis for Europe, because, without a French commissioner, the commission cannot get underway.”
