Clean lines

Hello Friends,
Mainly sunny skies over the beaches as Friday got started, but there looked to be a fair amount of rain activity out at sea and the Bureau says there’s a 90% chance of showers. As the pictures show, there were clean looking lines coming into Dee Why, and there were plenty of folk in the water to take advantage of the opportunities. Set wave faces looked to be into the chest plus range, particularly along the beach (where the shutdowns were plentiful). That said, it also seemed as though the swell angle wasn’t quite tuned to the point, so people would take off and then have the wave fade out after a turn. So, you’re mileage may vary.
Tide was high at 0745 and will be back to low at 1340. Wind was coming lightly from the SE early but it should pick up into the 10-15 kt range by midday. The Sydney buoy is offline this morning, but inferring from the data north and south of us, it’s probably around 2 metres at sea with a period of 11-12 seconds and a direction of 150° (SE-SSE). Water is 18C and water quality is dodgy along the Manly stretch, but okay up the peninsula from there.
