IT COULD be the most one-sided draw of all time – Kosovo somehow mustered a point in their European Championship Under-17 qualifier with Holland despite surrendering 90 PER CENT possession.
The Dutch had a whopping 21 shots and dominated the game but just could not finish off the East European minnows in Group 12 – who Netherlands boss Mischa Visser, accused of parking a double-decker bus.
And Visser even claimed Kosovo should put a statue up in Kosovo for goalkeeper Rijad Bytyqi after a string of stunning saves.
Holland went in front after just 10 minutes and many thought the floodgates would then open in Venray, Limburg.
PSV Eindhoven midfielder Mylian Jimenez fired past Kosovo goalkeeper Bytyqi for the opener.
But they missed chance after chance despite spending most of the first half in the Kosovo half.
Holland certainly had some young stars in their side.
Xavi Simons of Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United striker Dillon Hoogewerf were in the Dutch side.
They even sent centre-half Rio Hillen up front as they moved to Plan B – but they still could not score.
And they eventually paid for their profligacy.
The Oranje were stunned when the minnows equalised through Granit Hana on 69 minutes.
Holland had a total of eight shots on target and nine off target.
Kosovo only had one chance all game but their rare counter attack gave them a share of the spoils.
The Dutch also had four blocked shots and three times as many corners as the Eastern Europeans.
But somehow just could not turn their domination into goals.
Dutch boss Visser told the official Holland website the Kosovo keeper was a hero.
He said: “”He will get a statue in Kosovo.
“You know that you have to build up a margin during a competition.
“A ball can always go wrong. They had parked a double blue bus at the age of 16, we didn’t get through it enough.
“I think we played well, we just didn’t focus for one moment. That breaks us up.
“We had no in-depth walking actions. Certainly in the first half everyone wanted the ball in their feet.
“Then you make the space that was already limited, even smaller.”
They are two points behind group leaders Wales, who won their first match against Slovenia.
Holland face Wales this Saturday in the next phase of group games, with Kosovo playing Slovenia.
