JUVENTUS are reportedly plotting a January swoop for Paul Pogba where they will offer Manchester United Mario Mandzukic and Emre Can in exchange for the midfielder.
The 26-year-old failed to secure a move to Real Madrid in the summer as he publicly stated there is a “question mark” over his future at Old Trafford.
SunSport exclusively revealed last month that the French World Cup winner is pushing to leave in the New Year and does not want to extend his stay at the Theatre of Dreams.
And the Old Lady will test United’s resolve in the winter transfer window as they look to bring him back to Turin.
Pogba spent four years with Juventus – helping them to four Serie A titles – before he was sold to United for £89million in 2016.
According to Tuttosport, Maurizio Sarri is desperate to nab the player, with the Italian side ready to offload Mandzukic and Can to United.
It is unclear whether Juventus would offer Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side some cash to tempt them into accepting.
Mandzukic, 33, was a target for United in the summer, but it is clear that he is not in Sarri’s plans with Cristiano Ronaldo, Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala all preferred instead.
SunSport reported last month that Solskjaer was set to reignite his interest in the Croatian striker to bolster his attack with his United looking toothless in attack.
And his aerial threat could prove crucial for United with the club failing to score from a header in their last 58 attempts.
Since the start of the 2010/11 season, only Ronaldo and Fernando Llorente have scored more than his 39 headed goals in Europe’s top five leagues.
Can meanwhile could help United in the middle of the pitch with Nemanja Matic and Fred continuing to disappoint when given a chance by Solskjaer.
The German ace – who was left out of Juve’s Champions League squad along with Mandzukic – joined the Bianconeri on a free from Liverpool in 2018, but has struggled to force his way into the starting XI.
