Great British Bake Off fans squirm as Michael ‘slowly pokes’ his dough with his fingers
GREAT British Bake Off fans were left feeling “uncomfortable” after Michael Chakraverty “slowly poked his dough on Tuesday night’s show.
Fans were left in hysterics when the baker, 26, decided to check whether the dough for his hot cross buns had proofed enough by pressing two fingers slowly into it.
After poking his fingers in, Michael says: “It’s not ready”.
The weird technique had fans confused, with one person writing: “The way Michael just stuck his fingers in that dough made me feel so uncomfortable #GBBO”.
A second added: “Oh gosh Michael that was a very slow poke #gbbo”.
Another wrote: “Two fingers in the dough [sick face emoji].”
Week seven of the Channel 4 baking competition saw the contestants creating their best festival bakes.
There were some impressive offerings in the opening task, with triple Star Baker Steph Blackwell receiving a Paul Hollywood handshake for her hot cross buns.
Meanwhile, Henry’s Swedish treats earned him one too – and he was in so much shock he told him and fellow judge Prue to “Shut up”.

Henry’s Hollywood handshake managed to secure him the title of Star Baker this week, but Michael ended up being the one to leave.
Michael has opened up about his battle with anxiety while on the show.
After breaking down and crying in week 5, he took to Twitter to explain what had happened.
He called Bake Off “the most intense, incredible and scary thing I’ve ever done”, but watching himself on screen “showed me that I can do things even though (and especially when) I think I can’t”.
