‘Knives Out’ Stars Toni Collette, Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson on Chris Evans’ ‘Eat S—‘ Scene | Video
“Knives Out,” Director Rian Johnson’s “whodunnit” murder mystery, boasts an all-star cast that includes Jamie Lee Curtis, Chris Evans, Toni Collette, Katherine Langford and Daniel Craig — just to name a few. The ensemble only filmed a couple of scenes all together, but the one that stood out to them most was the scene that has already inspired a meme, two months before release of the film.
“I remember them all — my favorite was ‘eat s—‘: that was particularly spicy,” Don Johnson told TheWrap’s Beatrice Verhoeven at the Toronto International Film Festival. Collette, who plays an influencer of some sorts, added, “also, talking over each other and improvising… it was so great to have that freedom.”
The scene went viral when the “Knives Out” trailer was posted, depicting a dysfunctional family coming together following the death of the family’s patriarch, played by Christopher Plummer. Chris Evans — the somewhat black sheep of the group — appears for the reading of the will and gets reprimanded for it given he didn’t show up for the funeral, at which point, he tells multiple irate family members to quite literally “eat s—.”
“Knives Out” will hit theaters on Nov. 27. Rian Johnson also wrote the screenplay.
