Like many moms, Jennifer Garner is all about the festivity fall brings, with its its changing leaves, pumpkin patches, and all the fun of getting the kids dressed up for Halloween. Unfortunately, Garner says Halloween gets harder as kids grow up a bit, and we have to say — she’s right.
On the red carpet for a celeb-packed Save The Children gala at L.A.’s Beverly Hilton Hotel on Wednesday, Jennifer told ET that her three kids are at the age now where they have quite the minds of their own about Halloween. “It definitely gets harder,” she said of the Halloween experience with her daughters, Violet, 13, Seraphina, 10, and Samuel, 7, with ex-husband Ben Affleck.
“I mean, I remember one year when I talked both my girls into dressing up as pigs, and they were so cute!” Garner said. “And now they would be like, ‘No, Mom, oh, my gosh, no!'” Right, because why would an older kid want to be something merely cute on Halloween when they could be something gory, gruesome, marginally appropriate — or, of course, something licensed right off the rack like all the other kids at school.
To be fair, Garner herself dressed as a witch last Halloween, which is not particularly cute — though she does make a pretty adorable witch, TBH.
“So yeah, it’s harder,” Garner concluded. “But they’re gonna be cute, whatever they are.” And they’re not just cute on Halloween, but “funny and smart” and generally “awesome,” gushed their proud mama. “I’m lucky to have them,” she said. At least they’ll always be her sweet little piggies at heart.
