Stirling Albion complete the first quarter of the Ladbrokes League 2 campaign with a trip to Glebe Park to play Brechin City on Saturday. We have slipped to the foot of the table despite a three-match unbeaten run but are only four points outside the top four.
Kevin Rutkiewicz: “I was very pleased with the second half against Stenhousemuir last week but we need to do that for the full 90 minutes. It’s a big game against Brechin and it’s important we go into the mini break with a positive result.”
Team news: Defender Gareth Rodger is definitely out after recent knee surgery. Dylan Mackin, Josh Peters and Paul Willis all missed out last week and will be assessed ahead of the game.
Opponents: Brechin’s squad changed almost completely over the summer after a second successive relegation. The new arrivals included former Binos Jonathan Page (Airdrie) and Ryan McCord (Arbroath). Mark Wilson recently replaced Barry Smith as manager and last week’s 2-1 win over Elgin lifted City off the bottom at our expense.
Past meetings: This is our first trip to Glebe Park since July 2016 when we lost 2-1 in a Betfred Cup tie and the most recent meeting was also in that competition, with City winning 2-1 at Forthbank last July. We have not met on league business since 2014/15 – we lost all four games, including a pair of 2-1 defeats at Glebe Park, and were relegated from League 1.
Referee: John McKendrick
Admission: Adults £13, Concessions £9. Parent & Child £16
City Club Bar: Albion fans will be made very welcome in the The City Club, which is inside the ground in the David Will Stand. It’s open from 1.00pm – for supporters arriving before the turnstiles are open, access will be via the players / officials door upon payment of the regular gate entry price.
Glebe Park: A gem of a ground. Not just the famous hedge but the ability to change ends at half-time!
Weather: Current forecast is breezy, with rain possible
