Here Come the Belgians! Standard Standard Liege Preview/Team News

After what felt like yet another two dropped points against Man United on Monday night to go with the other four dropped points we felt like we dropped against Watford and 7pur2, its back to everybody’s favourite European Cup competition, the good old Europa League.

We face Standard Liege at home, and the boss Unai Emery (not Bruce Springsteen) has confirmed that Kieran Tierney and Hector Bellerin are set to feature in the game, great news I think you’ll agree.

Kieran Tierney played in our win against Nottingham Forest last week, but was sensationally dropped by Scotland at Arsenal’s request sparking rumours of an almighty Arsenal-style, trademark, 3 weeks away, setback in his return from injury. Happily, Emery denied the rumours, and confirmed the young Scot will be available for selection against the Belgians on Thursday:

“He needs time, confidence, training and playing. Tomorrow is a good opportunity, he is ready to play. He will take minutes and confidence and he will be able with us to show his progress…”

Emery also confirmed Bellerin has played the appropriate amount of comeback minutes, and after a few showings for the U23s, it seems as though the Spaniard is also keen and raring to go:

“For tomorrow we are thinking – it depends on the training we are going to do now – how he is feeling but if he is feeling well tomorrow he is going to play…”

We would be hoping to build on our emphatic and entertaining win in Frankfurt and take our tally to six points after just two games with a home win, in what would be the first home win in European competition for a North London side this week.
