Wolves ace Pedro Neto already has bragging rights over Cristiano Ronaldo and is now relishing trip to Besiktas
PEDRO NETO must be the only teenager in football with bragging rights over Cristiano Ronaldo.
So the Wolves ace, 19, is not going to wilt if Nuno Espirito Santo decides to pitch him into an Istanbul furnace against Besiktas this evening.
Neto robbed Ronaldo of one of his most cherished records by becoming the youngest goalscorer in Portuguese football — aged 17 years and 67 days — 185 days faster than his nation’s legend.
He said: “I scored my first goal for Braga on my senior debut against Nacional, nine minutes after coming on as a substitute.
“It was an amazing feeling because Braga were a club that had helped me so much. So to score for them on my debut was special.
“But I didn’t just become the youngest goalscorer in Braga’s history, I also broke the Portuguese record, taking it off Cristiano Ronaldo!
“It was such a good feeling to take that record from such a famous player — one which had stood for 15 years.”
Few of those in the know in Portuguese football were surprised at Neto’s impact as he had already rejected offers to sign for Barcelona and Manchester United a year earlier because of his loyalty to Braga.

Neto netted on his Wolves debut and provided an assist for Morgan Gibbs-White against FC Pyunik in the Europa League qualifiers.
And Wolves need a victory tonight after losing their opening Group G home game against Braga.
They will be buoyed by their first Prem win of the season against Watford on Saturday PLUS Besiktas have yet to keep a clean sheet in seven Euro ties.
