Triple H insists WWE and Vince McMahon are ‘open for business’ when quizzed about CM Punk return and says you can ‘never say never’
TRIPLE H insists the “past is the past” as he revealed WWE would be prepared to hold talks with CM Punk over a sensational return.
The 40-year-old Punk, real name Phil Brooks, left WWE in 2014 amid a bitter row with management.
Since then the Chicago native failed in an attempt to embark on a successful career in UFC.
He lost on his MMA debut to Mickey Gall back in 2016 before the former WWE Champion suffered a brutal beating at the hands of Mike Jackson at UFC 225 last June in his hometown.
With the formation of rival promotion All Elite Wrestling, speculation has mounted that Punk could be preparing for a comeback inside the squared-circle.
And some reports have even claimed he could be part of an overhaul of the new-look SmackDown Live that premieres on Fox this Friday.
A host of legendary names such as The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin will be attendance for the blue brand’s big bash – but it does not appear that Punk will be one of those.
But even though he may not be joining in the fun this week, Executive Vice President of Talent, Live Events and Creative Triple H says that situation could easily change.

Speaking to Sky Sports, The Game said: “You never say never in WWE.
“Any time anybody goes ‘that’ll never happen’, sooner or later it ends up being wrong maybe. The desire has to be there on both sides. I don’t know if it is on his (Punk’s), and I don’t know where we would be if that desire was brought up to us.”
Triple H added: “The past is the past, you move on and everybody puts things behind them.
“If there is an opportunity to do business, Vince (McMahon) has said it a million times, we’re open for business.”
