Man ‘fathered at least six children with his own daughter’

A man systematically raped his own daughter and fathered at least six children with her in south-west Wales, a court heard.

The defendant is said to have also repeatedly raped one of the girls his daughter gave birth to.

He is accused of 36 counts of rape, including one of procuring rape, and a count of assault by penetration.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is on trial at Swansea Crown Court and denies all the charges against him.

Opening the prosecution case at the court today, John Hipkin told the jury the defendant had ‘systematically controlled, groomed, and brainwashed’ his victims for his own sexual gratification.

Mr Hipkin said there were even elements of ‘witchcraft and mysticism’ to the control, with the defendant creating a ‘false mystic’ who was in communication with the girls.

The jury heard he is also accused of arranging for other men to rape his daughters.

Mr Hipkin also told members of the jury they would hear details of DNA evidence which proved the man in the dock had fathered ‘at least six’ children with one of his daughters.

His victim is said to have been under the age of 16 when she first fell pregnant by her father.

The trial, which is expected to last three weeks, continues.
