Adam Lallana prepared to play anywhere for Liverpool next season

England international Adam Lallana has said that he is prepared to play anywhere for Liverpool after suffering a couple of injury-plagued seasons with the team. The former Southampton graduate was once regarded as one of the standout performers in the squad but his requirement has dropped in the past few seasons where he has struggled with fitness concerns.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Lallana said that he is pleased to be playing regularly during pre-season and looking forward to adapting to a deeper midfield role where he started in the recent 3-1 friendly win over Lyon, he told: “It’s nice. I found myself playing there a few times this pre-season and I’m happy to play anywhere. I’ve enjoyed it, obviously getting on the ball.

“There are still aspects of the game I need to improve on and I’m sure I’ll learn the more I play there. I’m delighted to get some more minutes and build my fitness. [The manager] has mentioned I can play there, that I’ve got the ability to play there. There’s not been any formal chat but I’m happy playing there.”

Lallana has become more of a bench player for the Reds of late and the same may remain the case next term unless he is able to impress Klopp with a consistent run of form. Elsewhere, the Reds returned to winning ways against Lyon and the sight should please the supporters, considering the club have been struggling to find positive results over the past few weeks.

Nonetheless, that should not worry Klopp with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino just returning to the fold after their respective international exploits and it could become business as usual when the real season begins. Prior to the Premier League curtain raiser, the Reds have a Community Shield game against Manchester City, who bagged an unprecedented domestic treble last term.
