These are the most successful Disney films of all time
Who doesn’t love a bit of Disney magic? Whether you’re six, thirty six or one hundred and six, the fact of the matter is that the classics withstand the test of time and are there for you when you need them the most – when you have the urge to sing and dance around the living room/you’re horribly hungover/you want to sob about Mufasa dying (RIP).
(Plus, your Disney tapes could be worth thousands so not only do they satisfy your emotional needs they could also pay your rent).
Prince George’s favourite Disney film is an absolute classic, but how does it fare when it comes to the most successful Disney movies of all time?
PlayLikeMum decided to find out by looking at box office figures and Metacritic scores to determine which animated Disney film is the most successful, and the answer may surprise you.
Is it Beauty and the Beast? Aladdin? The Little Mermaid? The underrated (but quite frankly wonderful) The Great Mouse Detective?
Actually, no. None of the above even make the top ten. Sigh.
The most successful animated Disney film is actually Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. In second place is Fantasia, third is 101 Dalmations, fourth is The Lion King and fifth is Pinocchio. Sleeping Beauty, Bambi, Finding Nemo, Toy Story 3 and Cinderella complete the top ten.
So what about the live-action Disney movies – who takes the title then?
Unsurprisingly, Mary Poppins is practically perfect in every way, followed by The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and The Jungle Book (1994).
