Thomas Cook were selling holidays and flights HOURS before they collapsed
THOMAS Cook were still selling flights and holiday packages as late as last night – despite collapsing just hours later.
Mum-of-one Nathalie Aspey-Kent, 37, found the provider was offering holidays abroad as well as Christmas flights yesterday evening.
She was was due to fly back to home to Turkey last night at 9:45pm but was told the flight was being pushed back to today.
However, after waiting overnight at a London Gatwick hotel, she was told to book another flight after Thomas Cook went under, at a cost of £210.
Nathalie, who travels back to the UK every three weeks, said: “I think it’s shocking. Somebody should have apologised for this.
“They still had holidays up that you could buy last night. I just checked yesterday for Christmas flights and they still had some for sale.
“They have handled this absolutely appallingly. They should have told us beforehand.
“I phoned them before and they told me to come to the airport, then I even got through passport control.
“Clearly they knew the flight wasn’t going to happen. They should have sent someone here to apologise.”
Other people on social media also spotted the holiday provider selling flights as late as last night.
Rebecca Gamble said: “I walked past Thomas Cook in Milton Keynes yesterday, was quite full, I hoped people were asking for news not being sold hols.
“So I checked the Thomas Cook website, they were still selling hols as late as 5pm last night with no warning online.”
She added: “They should absolutely have had a warning on the website.”
Nicky wrote: “Very sad for #ThomasCook staff but also it was a d**k move to still be selling holidays yesterday afternoon to unsuspecting customers in shops and telling customers everything was going to be fine.”
Mark also tweeted: “Horrible that @ThomasCookUK has gone bust, but hearing they were still selling holidays and taking balances yesterday? That’s not on.”
A tweet from last night at 11:14pm called it “worrying” that the website was still selling packages that departed the next day – despite the website closing at midnight.
Scott said: “In Salford, the Thomas Cook shop was still selling holidays yesterday knowing these people WILL loose money.
“Why was this allowed if they were in trouble.”

Other travel firms have been accused of “cashing in” on the cancellation of Thomas Cook holidays, with some fares doubling in price.
Approximately 9,000 members of staff have been left unemployed by the collapse – although many still going to work unpaid to help passengers.
One flight raised money for the final Thomas Cook flight to help cabin crew who found themselves without a job.
