Strictly Come Dancing bosses insist on new eco-friendly rules including sharing taxis
STRICTLY bosses have told celebs and dancers to share taxis home with each other or with the crew — in the latest move to make the show more eco-friendly.
Everyone working on the show must also book “hybrid low-emission” cars where possible, to cut down on their carbon footprint.
The rules, which affect contestants such as ex-England goalie David James and his dance pro Nadiya Bychkova, , follow the glitter ban revealed by The Sun last year.
There were fears the shiny plastic particles could end up in rivers and oceans.
For this series, stars and staff have been given reusable coffee cups to cut down on waste — as well as biodegradable wipes that won’t block sewers for taking off slap.
Also, studio engineers must dim the lights while setting up to save on energy. Any hotels booked — such as for the Blackpool show — must have “green certification”.

A show source said: “Every part of the production process has been looked at and tweaked, even how stars get to and from the studio.”
The BBC confirmed the changes include a ban on single use plastic. And special effects products for Strictly are now “95 per cent biodegradable”.
