Ex-Spurs player is ‘very pleased’ to have left the club this summer

Ex-Spurs player Georges-Kevin Nkoudou has told Turkish paper Sabah that he is ‘very pleased’ that he decided to leave the club. The winger spent three seasons at Spurs before joining Turkish club Besiktas in the summer.

Nkoudou is clearly happy that he gets a new start after his career at Tottenham never really got going. He struggled to break into the first team and became a ‘forgotten man’ at Spurs.

With the likes of Lucas Moura and Heung Min Son on the wings, two players who are among some of the best in the Premier League, it seemed a near-impossible task for Nkoudou to carve a chance for himself at Tottenham.

Nkoudou said (Sabah): “I think there’s a new life starting for me after Tottenham. I am very pleased with my decision.

‘The fans are absolutely fantastic. I’ve been also told about that before I came here, but still, I am very surprised. The atmosphere is amazing inside the stadium.”

Nkoudou had loan spells at Burnley and Monaco but failed to break into the first team at either club. He will be hoping that a change of scenery and a fresh start will revitalise his faltering career.

Hopefully, the Frenchman can kick-start his career again at Besiktas this year, as he did always show flashes of promise for Tottenham.

It’s not surprising that Nkoudou is surprised he has left the club, he was never really at the right level to feature in the first team and he ended up completely frozen out of the squad. Hopefully, a chance at a lower level will help him show his quality again.
