Woman arrested after man, 83, ‘stabbed in the back’ at home in Liverpool

An 83-year-old man was rushed to hospital after being stabbed in the back at flats in Liverpool.

Police were called to reports a man suffered a ‘puncture wound to the back’ at a property in Toxteth yesterday morning.

The pensioner remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Officers arrested a woman, 30, at a nearby property on suspicion of Grevious Bodily Harm (GBH) with intent.

She is currently in custody where she is being questioned by police.

Merseyside Police said: ‘We have arrested a 30 year-old woman following reports an 83 year-old man was assaulted at a property in Toxteth.

‘We were called to Southwell Place at 5.40pm yesterday following reports the male had suffered a puncture wound to the back.

‘The man was taken to hospital where he is currently in a stable condition.

‘The woman was arrested at a nearby property on suspicion of s18 wounding (GBH) and is currently in custody where she is being questioned by detectives.

‘Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of what happened.’
