6 reasons fantasy football owners should trade for Mike Evans immediately

If you are a fantasy football owner with pretty much any of the offensive players for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on your team — save for Chris Godwin — I feel your pain.

It’s especially tough with wide receiver Mike Evans, who’s coming off a career-best 1,524 yard to go with 86 receptions (second-best of his career). In his first two games of 2019, he had a two-catch, 28-yard game followed by Thursday night’s 4-for-61 line that no doubt left people thinking he’d be a WR1 extremely frustrated.

If you’re a smart fantasy football owner, that means you should trade for him immediately. Here’s why:

1. Mike Evans is still good

Since his rookie year — which included 12 touchdowns, by the way — he’s never had fewer than 71 catches. He scored eight touchdowns last season. He’s as reliable as they come even though …

2. Jameis Winston might be struggling, but he’s going to throw a lot

I don’t trust the Bucs’ rushing attack and neither should you.

3. Chris Godwin can only help

I know — Godwin was the benefit of nine targets on Thursday and he’s scored two touchdowns already. But any attention that goes his way will help Evans.

4. Evans was covered by James Bradberry on Thursday

He managed that line against one of the better cornerbacks in the NFL.

5. O.J. Howard hasn’t been used much

That, to me, means Evans and Godwin will have more red zone targets.

6. You should always buy low

Obviously! He has some exploitable matchups in the future (the Giants next week) and some with potential for high volume (at Rams in Week 4, two games against the Saints).
