New end-of-year UFC Honors to be chosen by Dana White, fans
The UFC is implementing new annual awards and fans will get to choose some of the winners.
The UFC on Friday announced a new annual end-of-the-year awards program that, according to a news release, will “recognize UFC’s top fighters, performances and moments.”
The awards will be divided into two categories: “UFC Honors President’s Choice,” which will be chosen by UFC president Dana White, and “UFC Honors Fan Choice,” which will be voted upon by fans.
The awards have been divided as follows:
UFC Honors President’s Choice:
- UFC Performance of the Year
- UFC Fight of the Year
UFC Honors Fan Choice:
- Toyo Tires’ UFC Knockout of the Year
- Toyo Tires’ UFC Submission of the Year
- Toyo Tires’ UFC Event of the Year
- Toyo Tires’ UFC Comeback of the year
“Every year, there are so many great fights and so many unbelievable performances in UFC,” White stated. “It’s going to be almost impossible to pick the best, but I’m going to have fun trying. It’s also cool that the fans will get to vote in some categories, like ‘Knockout of the Year’ and ‘Event of the Year.’ Toyo Tires is a great partner and we’re looking forward to working with them on this.”
According to the release, the nominees for the honors will be announced in early December, with winners announced before the end of the calendar year.
