I was raped by another man three years ago and still can’t get over it

DEAR DEIDRE: AFTER a night out I was raped by a man.

I am a 28-year-old single male.

It happened three years ago as I was walking back to my flat in the early hours.

I want to report it to the police but I’m worried it might now be too late.

I have told nobody about the rape until recently.

I understand there is a stigma attached to male rape and sexual assault, and I know I haven’t been myself since it happened.

I confided in a pal after a few drinks.

He told me to go to the police.

I’m still having flashbacks and nightmares about it and have begun drinking heavily to help me cope.

I am really struggling and it’s making me feel like I can’t go on.
